Jasmien Van Loo

A Fashion Designer and Upcycling Advocate, 28 years old.

Jasmien Van Loo is a talented fashion designer and upcycling enthusiast who has been making waves in the fashion industry with her unique and sustainable approach to fashion. With her passion for upcycling, Jasmien creates stunning pieces of clothing by repurposing and redesigning old or unused clothes with a touch of pink. I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jasmien about her work and her unique style, and I asked her four questions about her approach to fashion. Jasmien Styled her outfit with our Blue Shift Jeans.

1. What inspired you to develop your personal style?

My grandmother. She used to make our clothes when we were kids. So from a very young age I was already choosing my own fabrics and designs. And ofcourse the 90ies aesthetic. For example: my furbies and Barbies.

2. How do you express your personality through your clothing choices?

I see myself as a bubbly person who likes to be in touch with my younger self so automatically I always go for pink and pastel colors. Everything that I recognize from my childhood memories, I’d like to rewear today. If I find something in the thrift shop or make a ‘new’ outfit with an old fabric that I had when I was younger I would automatically go for that instead of a new outfit.

3. What advice would you give to someone who wants to develop their own individual style?

Follow your instincts, choose colours/fabrics that YOU like, don’t be afraid to try something new and out of the box. Try to be your authentic self and don’t try to follow trends because you think that you ‘should’ be doing that to look a certain way.

4. What is your go-to outfit when you want to feel confident?

Probably my pink tracksuit that I designed because they’re comfortable and you will always look cool and put together if you combine it with a full face of makeup and some cool sneakers.

5. What inspired you to style ‘Blue Shift Jeans’ the way you did?

I picked the Blue Shift Jeans because it’s a fun take on denim with the different color jeans panels. The jeans for me is a more oversized so I like to combine it with a snug turtleneck to balance the outfit out. The combination pink and denim is always a win for me! I love to combine a straight leg jeans with a platform shoe so your legs look longer and it’s gives a more cool edge to it.
